BRICS countries have collectively accumulated more than 6,000 tons of Gold by 2025, representing roughly 20-21% of global central bank reserves. Russia leads the bloc with 2,335.85 tons, followed closely by China at 2,298.53 tons. India holds 879.98 tons, while Brazil and South Africa maintain smaller reserves of 129.65 tons and 125.47 tons, respectively.

The strategic accumulation of gold reserves underscores a deliberate MOVE by BRICS nations to reduce reliance on Western currencies and establish a tangible asset base for alternative financial systems. Russia and China dominate the bloc's holdings, controlling approximately 74% of its total reserves—a result of aggressive purchasing over the past decade.

Between 2008 and 2021, BRICS' share of global central bank gold reserves surged from 5% to 22%, reflecting a concerted effort to diversify away from dollar-denominated assets. These reserves are now poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the alliance's financial initiatives and reinforcing its economic sovereignty.
